Benzinevervanger E85

E85 is a blend of fossil petrol with 85% ethanol. The CO₂ emissions of the ethanol during use are set equal to zero because of the short-cycle nature of the carbon in these fuels. The CO₂ released falls under the biogenic emissions heading. Emissions from Indirect Land Use Change effects (ILUC) from the production of biofuel are not included, because the amount of fuel with an ILUC risk that may be sold is limited. This means that additional demand for biofuel will not lead to greater use of fuels with an ILUC risk, once the maximum permitted amount has been reached. The amount of biofuels can then only increase through an increase in so-called advanced biofuels, which carry no ILUC risk. Energy content/calorific value = 30.2 MJ/kg or 22.61 MJ/litre. Density = 0.75 kg/litre
