Overview

GlobalEPD is the EPD programme of AENOR, the Spanish standardisation and certification association. Manufacturers from Spain, Portugal and Latin America publish third-party verified EPDs under its rules: cement, mortars, ceramic tiles and bricks, steel, cables, pipes, road products and food packaging. The programme is presented on aenor.com.

Its digital datasets are published in the ILCD+EPD format on the soda4LCA node globalepd.lca-data.com, the same format and interface ÖKOBAUDAT uses.

Methodology

How this works
  • Values are global warming potential per declared unit (per kg, m³, m² or m), reported per life cycle module: A1-A3 product stage, A4-A5 construction, B1-B7 use, C1-C4 end of life, and D, benefits beyond the system boundary.
  • Every dataset follows EN 15804+A2, and the served number is GWP-fossil, with the total, biogenic and land use parts kept beside it.
  • No breakdown by gas is published, so the values cannot be restated in AR6.
  • Each EPD gets one total over the modules it declares, built the same way as for ÖKOBAUDAT: cradle to gate for A1-A3, cradle to grave when every A to C module is declared. Most GlobalEPD datasets print the A1-A3 sum only, which is served as published; where the EPD prints A1, A2 and A3 without their sum, the cradle to gate total is their sum. Module D is shown beside the total, never added to it.
  • The reference year is the dataset's own reference year.
  • Every dataset but one is product or manufacturer specific.

Mixed: the EPD's declared ILCD reference year, which is a data year on Kiwa-EE and most often the year the EPD was published on the other nodes. An EPD that states none is dated off its own publication or entry date.

What we import

  • The node as harvested on 2026-10-02: 528 of the 529 datasets it lists, one factor per module.
  • The declaration owner is shown as the supplier.
  • GlobalEPD's datasets carry no product classification, so each one is placed in an open-climate.ai category read from its product name.
  • Values declared per tonne or another amount are converted to the declared unit.
  • Not imported: a dataset with every module at zero, and the EN 15804 indicators other than GWP.
  • Most names are published in Spanish, about one in twenty in English. The Spanish names are shown in our English translation, marked as translated.

Restricted. AENOR's legal notice states that "no está permitida la reproducción, la distribución, comercialización, copia, duplicación, cesión o transformación, total o parcial, gratuita u onerosa, de esta página sin la previa autorización expresa y por escrito de AENOR" (reproduction, distribution, sale, copying, transfer or transformation, in whole or in part, needs AENOR's prior written authorisation). The notice is written for aenor.com, but it is the operator's only text on data use. The GlobalEPD instructions call the content of a verified EPD public. Holding the values for your own footprint is allowed; sharing, embedding and modifying them need AENOR's agreement, which we are requesting. Until then the values are not shown on the public site. Limitations

  • 2 datasets are past their validity date. The node still lists them, so they are loaded; check an EPD's validity date before use.
  • 78 datasets state no location. They are placed in the world as a whole, and marked as an assigned location, not a published one.
  • Some names give only a product designation, such as a cement type (for example "IV/A (P) 42,5 R/MR"); the category is read from that designation.
