Coniferous lumber - fresh (German average)

The data set was created in 2023 as an update with identical foreground system. All background data sets are taken from the GaBi Professional Database with content version 2023.1. The saw logs taken from the forest are, in some cases, already debarked in the forest, delivered to the sawmills on round-timber trucks and visually inspected. The logs are debarked, if this has not already been done, cross-cut to length depending on delivery length (in some cases up to 22 m), machine conditions and order specifications, and stored intermediately sorted by diameter and wood species. Sawing is carried out, depending on the technology used, by means of a profile chipper, circular saw or band saw. Several types of machine may be connected in series, or the log or its parts may be passed through the same machine several times. The technologies, and the configurations of the individual technologies within a sawmill, differ mainly in the possible processing speed, the minimum and maximum possible processing diameter, the quantity of residual materials produced, the forms of the residual materials, the possible dimensional variability of the products, and the possible yield of main product (sawn timber) given the fluctuating quality (e.g. in the case of stem curvature) of the saw logs. The products are packaged and made available at the plant gate for further use. The wood moisture content of the product is 55%

Coniferous lumber is used in the construction sector and for furniture manufacturing. In the construction sector, timber houses, roof trusses, windows and doors as well as floors (floorboards, parquet or laminate) are made from coniferous lumber.
