Emission factor from CO2emissiefactoren.be 2026.06
Car - Diesel, Small
Belgium · Well-to-use · Any year
Each kilometre one vehicle drives counts as 0.166 kg CO₂e: 0.126 from the fuel it burns and 0.04 for producing and delivering that fuel.
Value per kilometre driven
0.166kgCO₂e/km
Biogenic CO₂ and land use excluded · GWP100 · GWP vintage not stated
One value, valid until 31 December 2024
CO2emissiefactoren.be sets this validity and gives no value for another period, so there is no year to pick.
Reference year 2024
- LoadHow full a lorry, train or ship runs with goods. A passenger factor counts passengers or vehicles, not tonnes, so no load applies.
- Not applicable
- Vehicle sizeThe vehicle's class, by weight or capacity. CO2emissiefactoren.be does not say which size this factor assumes.
- Not stated
- Distance bandFlights are priced by distance band, because take-off and climb burn a large share of a short flight's fuel. Road, rail and sea factors apply to a trip of any length.
- Any distance, not banded
- Cabin classA business seat takes more of the cabin than an economy one, so it carries more of the flight's emissions. First class on a long-haul flight counts four times economy.

- BoundaryWell-to-useOne unit of energy as consumed, priced from the well to the point of use: the well-to-tank chain plus the burn for a fuel; generation, its well-to-tank and the transmission and distribution losses for a delivered carrier (electricity, steam or hot water, chilled water). - CO₂e basisWhich carbon the CO₂e counts. Fossil only leaves out biogenic CO₂ and land use; net total counts every pool, net of removals. The same activity on two bases is two different numbers. Learn more

What this number covers
The path of one vehicle-kilometre, from the oil well to the end of the trip.

Outside this boundary
- Building the vehicle
- Roads and depots
Vehicles and infrastructure sit outside every well-to-use factor. Some libraries price building the vehicle as a factor of its own.
Gases
CO2emissiefactoren.be publishes this factor as CO₂e only, with no split by gas. The CO₂e leaves biogenic CO₂ and land-use carbon out; methane from biogenic sources is counted.
From CO2emissiefactoren.be's record to a comparable factor
CO2emissiefactoren.be publishes this factor as one Dutch record with two sub-lines. Here is each field as printed and what open-climate.ai made of it.
The total and its parts
Use a part on its own when you report the fuel you burn separately from its production; never add a part to the total.
About this factor
From CO2emissiefactoren.be
Translated from DutchBased on a car with a build year of 2017 or newer (with a corresponding road-type distribution), running on B7 diesel. A small passenger car on diesel falls into car segment A or B and has a mass of less than 1050 kg and an engine capacity of less than 1.8 L. This concerns the real-world consumption of the cars. Vehicle-kilometres can be converted to passenger-kilometres by dividing by the number of occupants. This is possible for journeys where the number of occupants is known. The average occupancy rate of cars is 1.39 (Source 2).Source and licence
