The emissions from landing, taxiing and take-off make up a significant share of the total for short flights, but only a small fraction for long flights. The figures also include CO2-effecten (effects beyond carbon dioxide itself), which carry a particularly larger share on long flights. A scientifically grounded method for calculating these non-CO2 emissions is still lacking. The CO2-emissie (the non-carbon-dioxide portion of the emission) is determined using an average uplift factor (0.7) applied to the direct CO2-uitstoot (the direct exhaust). The pure CO2-emissies (these emissions) are on average about 50% lower than the values expressed in CO2-equivalenten (carbon-dioxide-equivalent figures).
