Where 0.447 comes from
UOS prints this factor as a single figure, with no parts to add up and no split by gas.
Reporting this cubic metre under the GHG Protocol
Scope 2 0.447
You buy the energy, so its generation is your Scope 2.
The factor, standardised

What this number covers
The path of 1 m³ processed of heat, from the fuel to your meter. Not every step on it is counted; what is left out is listed below.
Heat generation
Producing the heat and steam at the plants that feed the network
Included0.447Your record
1 m³ processed in your records. The factor is per m³ processed.
= 0.447
Outside this boundary
- Heat lost in the network
- Producing and delivering the heat plants' fuel
- Building the heat plants
- Building the heat network
UOS counts burning fuel at the heat plants, not producing and delivering that fuel or building the plants.

About this factor
From UOS
Source and licence
