Where 0.347 comes from
ProBas prints this factor as a single figure, with no parts to add up.
Reporting this kilowatt-hour under the GHG Protocol
Scope 1 + Scope 3, categories 2 and 3 0.347
This one figure covers all three together; no split between them is given.
Emissions from equipment you run are direct emissions, so they are your Scope 1.
Building the plant is a capital good: Scope 3, category 2.
Producing and delivering the fuel it burns happened upstream: Scope 3, category 3.
The factor, standardised
Every factor on open-climate.ai answers the same questions in the same words, whatever the publisher. Open any ⓘ for the definition.

- BoundaryEnergy, full life cycleFull life-cycle emissions of one unit of energy service (a kWh generated, or a vehicle-, passenger- or tonne-kilometre moved): extraction and delivery of the fuel or electricity, its combustion in the plant or vehicle, and the manufacture of the generating asset or vehicle itself amortized over its lifetime output. - GWP methodWhich IPCC assessment report's warming potentials convert each gas to CO₂e, and over how many years the warming is counted (GWP100: 100 years). Learn more

- Re-weighted by open-climate.ai from ProBas's AR5 figure of 0.347 kgCO₂e/kWh
- CO₂e basisWhich carbon the CO₂e counts. Fossil only leaves out biogenic methane, land-use change and biogenic CO₂; excl. biogenic CO₂ counts biogenic methane but not the other two; net total counts every pool, net of removals. The same activity on two bases is two different numbers. Learn more

- Fossil CO₂0.33496.3%
- Methane (CH₄)0.009242.7%
- Nitrous oxide (N₂O)0.003621%
Σ 0.334 + 0.00924 + 0.00362 = 0.346923, which ProBas rounds to 0.347.
Also printed, as zero: sulphur hexafluoride (SF₆).
Each gas is converted to CO₂e with AR6 100-year warming potentials; biogenic CO₂ and land-use carbon are left out, while methane from biogenic sources is counted.

About this factor
From ProBas
Translated from GermanDebarker for debarking in the forest in forestry (here efficiency 100%, since the fuel consumptions are entered!)
Compared to the original dataset (agricultural diesel engine), the data for CO, other dust (particles) and NMVOC (HC and aldehydes) were raised markedly, that for NOx slightly. Small deviations remain for CO₂ and larger ones for SO2. These were not changed.
