Overview

EPD Italy is the Italian EPD programme, operated by ICMQ, an Italian certification body for the construction sector. Manufacturers, most of them in Italy, publish third-party verified EPDs under its rules: cement, concrete, aggregates, ceramic tiles, steel, insulation, pipes and building chemicals. The programme's site is epditaly.it.

Its digital datasets are published in the ILCD+EPD format on the soda4LCA node epditaly.lca-data.com, the same format and interface ÖKOBAUDAT uses.

Methodology

How this works
  • Values are global warming potential per declared unit (per kg, m³, m², m or piece), reported per life cycle module: A1-A3 product stage, A4-A5 construction, B1-B7 use, C1-C4 end of life, and D, benefits beyond the system boundary.
  • Most datasets follow EN 15804+A2 with the EF 3.0 characterisation, and the served number is GWP-fossil, with the total, biogenic and land use parts kept beside it. About 260 older datasets follow EN 15804+A1 and print a single total, which we serve and flag.
  • No breakdown by gas is published, so the values cannot be restated in AR6.
  • Each EPD gets one total over the modules it declares, built the same way as for ÖKOBAUDAT: cradle to gate for A1-A3, cradle to grave when every A to C module is declared. Where the EPD prints A1, A2 and A3 without their sum, the cradle to gate total is their sum; where it prints the sum, the parts are linked under it. Module D is shown beside the total, never added to it.
  • The reference year is the dataset's own reference year.
  • About nine in ten datasets are product or manufacturer specific, the rest are averages over several plants or products.

Mixed: the EPD's declared ILCD reference year, which is a data year on Kiwa-EE and most often the year the EPD was published on the other nodes. An EPD that states none is dated off its own publication or entry date.

What we import

  • The node as harvested on 2026-10-02: 3,432 of the 3,435 datasets it lists, one factor per module.
  • The declaration owner is shown as the supplier.
  • Each dataset is placed in an open-climate.ai category, read from its CPC code where it carries one (about one in ten) and otherwise from its product name.
  • Values declared per tonne or another amount are converted to the declared unit.
  • Not imported: a test upload, a dataset with no GWP result, a dataset with every module at zero, and the EN 15804 indicators other than GWP.
  • Names are published in English, as we show them.

Open for 3,068 datasets, restricted for the other 367. The 3,068 state "Free of charge for all users and uses". EPD Italy's general contract terms (section 12.1) have the EPD owner authorise ICMQ to share the data through its site and other channels, and say the digital format allows the data to be reprocessed by calculation software. The 367 datasets that state no licence are held at restricted until ICMQ confirms they are covered too; their values are not shown on the public site. Attribution: "EPD Italy (ICMQ), EPD data from https://epditaly.lca-data.com". Last verified 2026-10-02.

Limitations

  • 163 datasets are past their validity date. The node still lists them, so they are loaded; check an EPD's validity date before use.
  • 7 datasets declare a location that contradicts the plant address they print, one of them the Falkland Islands. They are placed in Italy, from that address.
  • Some names carry a model or edition code that looks like a year. They are loaded as published.

Changelog

  • 2026-10-05: node harvest of 2026-10-02 loaded.
