The libraries

Every public library. One database.

Every publisher prints factors its own way: its own language, units, categories and boundaries. We read each library at the source and serve them all the same way, so any two factors sit side by side. Flip the switch and see.

The basics

What is an emission factor?

An emission factor turns an activity you can measure, such as kilowatt-hours of energy, litres of fuel or euros spent, into the greenhouse gases it emits. It is expressed in kg CO₂e per unit of activity: per kWh, per litre, per tonne-kilometre or per euro.

Example: for natural gas in France, ADEME publishes 0.215 kg CO₂e per kWh (gross calorific value, 2022), the gas's supply chain included. A 10,000 kWh gas bill therefore comes to 10,000 × 0.215 = 2,150 kg CO₂e, about 2.2 tonnes.
